Back from the appointment...

...still dilated to 3 cm. heartrate looked good overall. there was one spot the nurse was a little concerned about but the doctor said it was okay to go home, but i need to come back on wed morning if she is not delivered by then. fluid levels were good as well. thank you for the prayers.

NST

appointment is at 1 pm, i will update after that.

Another April baby?

well, nothing happened overnight so we will be going to the non-stress test today. i am hoping to get in for an early appointment this morning (9 or 10). we are praying that fluid levels are all normal and that the heartbeat looks great and is consistent. i'll try to update again when we get back.

malachi and i are loving being with grandma, what a blessing it is to have my mom here! kurtis had a chance yesterday to take malachi to the park for some "boys" time and mom and i went to get a pedicure...that was a real treat!!

...still waiting

is there anybody out there actually praying for this baby to arrive? :) just kidding. for those that are curious, i have not gone into labor. still having random contractions here and there. i feel like she can't get any lower without falling out. hopefully today is the day, i don't really want to have to go in for non-stress testing tomorrow. we'll see what God has planned though.

not yet...

i went to my last appointment with my midwife yesterday, we are moving in the right direction so that is encouraging, 3 cms dilated. early this morning (2 am) i was having braxton hicks every 3-5 minutes and it went on for about an hour. they were not very strong but i woke kurtis anyway thinking that we might need to go to the hospital. but the contractions stopped and i went back to bed around 4. kurtis stayed up, did some work and then left for work earlier than normal. so you can pray that the short night of sleep does not drain him today.

if nothing happens this weekend i will go in for non-stress testing on monday to check the heartbeat and fluid levels.

thank you to those that are praying. we are hoping to meet our little girl this weekend.

For those that are curious...

...labor has not begun, we are still waiting. so please keep the prayers going. i am having braxton hicks or minor contracting every so often but nothing that has any regularity at all.

Due Today!!

so today is my due date and we will be picking up my mom from the airport this morning at 10:30. my prayer was that our little girl would not arrive until my mom could come but as soon as she (my mom) is here we are hoping it is not much longer. so to all friends and family we ask that you pray for labor to begin soon...well not before 10:30 am :)...in order that my mom's time here can be used most efficiently. thank you. we will try to keep the blog updated with any new news.

Oh how sweet it is...

...to turn around in the car and see malachi enjoying a book. pretty much every time we are going somewhere in the car he wants to bring a few books along. he will either "read" out loud to me or just quietly study the pictures. what a blessing it is that we live in a place where books are plentiful!

i sure hope he doesn't follow in my footsteps and have the problem of getting carsick. i wonder when that develops?!

Kielbasa and ....

i just love it when i make something for dinner out of whatever i can find in our fridge and pantry, throw it all together AND it tastes good. tonight i made a casserole with kielbasa and brown rice that turned out quit well i must say. i added kidney beans, garlic, onion, 2 kinds of cheese and peas. but the best part was that i used up some boxed butternut squash soup that none of us liked as soup from a couple of nights ago. so all in all it was pretty healthy as well. i just had the need to give myself a pat on the back. :)

Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe

Preparing to be a Big Brother!

the other day malachi asked me to help him put diapers on his two stuffed animals. he actually didn't do too bad. i am sure he will be my big helper when his sister arrives.

Here's your sign...

People say the dumbest things to a woman in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Today my two "favorites" were...

...Are you sure you aren't having twins? - I've actually heard this one a few times

and

...(speaking to Malachi) Looks like you are going to have a little sister or brother soon, though it doesn't look like they'll be too little.

What I would love is to be able to come up with a witty comeback, but everything I can think of is just not very kind. How about I just have a shirt that gives suggestions for kind things to say to a pregnant woman. People obviously have not remembered the old saying, "If you don't have anything kind to say, don't say anything at all."

I realize that I have posted about this a couple times already but it truly is a very big pet peeve of mine. (just in case you couldn't tell) Seriously though, is it just me or does this bother anyone else who has been pregnant and heard similar stuff?

Excitement and Dread

we have officially hit the month of march and hopefully will be meeting our sweet little girl, face to face, this month. we are 23 days away from the due date but who's counting. i'm feeling as though i can't possibly get much bigger...and so many people are willing to point that out to me as well :).
i am getting very excited to finally see our zoe and begin life as a family of four but boy am i beginning to dread going through labor. i can only pray that this time it is not as long and it sure would be fabulous if i can do most of the laboring at home. with malachi i was induced (cause he was going to be so huge i was told...and yes he was only 7lbs 10oz...never again will i believe the size estimations i hear) i would really love it if we don't have to go through that again.
last week at my regular weekly appointment my midwife heard some decelerations in zoe's heartbeat and wanted to follow up with monitoring at the hospital. when i arrived at the hospital at 3pm they checked me into labor and delivery triage and i didn't actually leave until 5:30! heartbeat sounded fine, everything was fine...just sent me into a bit of an emotional roller coaster even though i am well aware that decelerations are very normal. we are just grateful everything looks great and continue to pray that she arrives healthy and strong.
